The Trouble With Apple Core
Apple had to make a deal with the Beatles record label, Apple core, saying that they wouldn't do anything with music. Doing so might confuse consumers, which would violate the trademark. In the late 80s, Apple added MIDI support to the Apple 2 - allowing you to plug your computer into a musical keyboard and use it as an instrument.
