How to Decouple Your Eyes From Your Environment
Shreve: "When you're teaching people how to do this, it can't fail. There's no way they really do it wrong" When your eyes are open, the brain is typically in a beta wave state - where we generally live and do our work. The more agitated you are, the higher frequency beta you get. Once you close your eyes, then your brain goes into an alpha state,. which is a little slower than beta, but not yet theta. So when you closeyour eyes, then you decouple from your environment around you, and you become aware then of the inner space.
