The Queen's Head and Currency

Coins with the queen's head on them were legal tender prior to decimalization. I don't know that they ever ceased to be legal tender until that denomination is taken out of circulation, like the old five pound note ceases to be. But i'm fairly confident that it's going to actually evolve taking a wheelbarrow of pocket money down to the local post office and swapping it all for the neslum. There?
