The Home Secretary's Plan for a London Police Force
When robert peel was home secretary, he pushed through legislation to create rural police in ireland. He's already created and reformed a number of police forces across the UK. The call for a london wide force isn't coming from the bits near the centre that are well policed. It is instead coming from the suburbs where people are saying we've got theoretically a parish constables system, but we're now part of ta city. And so that, i think, is one of the tipping triggers that allows peel to get this plan through.
