You will always be associated with one extraordinary decision you took to leak the Pentagon papers. My intent at the time was to put out more important papers I felt, he says. You released this trove of documents which gave a long history to US involvement in Vietnam over four administrations. In doing so you must have known that there would be massive legal consequences for you. He adds: "I thought this is 7,000 pages of top secret documents I'll go to prison for life"
