The History of the Dominion of Canada

The term Dominion had been used in the past by England, but never in a way that actually meant anything concrete. In 1867, the British reorganized several of the remaining colonies in North America to become the Dominion of Canada. The new Dominion of Canada was to be very different than the system that preceded it. All legislation passed by the Canadian Parliament still had to be approved by the British Parliament.
