The Polenty site was a great example of someone getting coverage early on on a few influential but small political blogs which then bigger political blogs picked up and started talking about. And in his case, he just sort of traded up this chain from small blogs covering them to being shattered about to doing the occasional television appearance to commanding bigger crowds. Once you're on television, your commanding crowds, then the money starts pouring in. Then all of a sudden you're a real candidate and you have a real impact on the election except you're not actually, you're sort of being propped up by interested parties. As soon as they're done with you, they get rid of you.
