The Dangers of Anne's Engaging With the Ideas in Radical Religious Texts
Anne's flirtation with reformist ideas also raised the hackles of her long term enemy, Cardinal Wolsey. This is all heresy in Wolsey's eyes because he is a cardinal. So this is anathema to him. These radical ideas that Anne and her supporters are starting to circulate around the court. And he would have been horrified by all of this. It just makes his rival with Anne even more intense. But she's pushing Henry much further along the path of reform than I think he would have ever have gone on his own.
