How to Meditate for Chronic Pain

Do we have to develop a seated meditation practice to either cultivate compassion in ourselves or to help our patients and clients cultivate self-compassion? It's a tough line to walk. I think meditating down to meditate is not going to hurt anyone, right? So it's hard. Even if they can just get one minute down, that is so much better than zero...I don't think there's any magic number.
