The Mears' Influence on the Premier League
Chelsea were relegated from the Premier League in 1923-24 after conceding 53 goals. The Blues had been mired in off-field controversies, to do with ownership of Stanford Bridge and stadium redevelopment work carried out by Joseph Mears' company.
