What Was It Like Growing Up in the US?
I would say that there was a lot of fear around Middle Eastern culture after 9/11. I remember going to frat parties and guys would be like, Hey, what's up girl? So what are you? And so I'd say I was Persian and they'd be like, Oh, so you're related to terrorists. That was kind of awkward. But yeah, it's been an interesting thing to navigate. You know, some days I'm supposed to be more German other days, you know, I'm Persian and I'm very like very, very proud.
