The Importance of Abjection
The essay that I wrote is about Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. And it is about reading Lolita reading and rereading, which is the important part, Lolita as horror. So reading Lolita as a young girl, you are Lolita or you identify with Lolita because you are either the age Lolita was, or you want the kind of power that Humbert Humbert ascribes to Lolita. It's an example of how abjection might actually assist in sort of structuring our understanding of who we once were individually and also as a group and who we are now.
