The Crowds Drop Towards the End of the War
Crowds drop through from down to about a sort of low in about 1915 16, but then actually what's quite interesting even though you've got conscription and possibly ugly people being tired out by the war. So the crowd starts to rise back up towards the end of the war which shows that in some ways people are even more keen,. especially when they feel more comfortable with football as an acceptable pastime. And it's only in football that decision is made to fall for working class men do something for free and it seems appropriate.
