Blind side is a case of incentant perception then that means the sense organs are working perfectly well but the phenomenology isn't present. You can have destruction or trauma of the visual cortex so you don't have the ability to have the phenomenal consciousness of what you're seeing. But people are able to discern their environment in a cognitive way without having the phenomenal sensation. So blind side that empirical data is a critical element in the development of your theory. Yes and it makes it clear that sentence in the way you were suggesting we should use it doesn't apply.
