The amount of capital gains tax you pay depends on your income level. Depreciation recapture is generally taxed as ordinary income and caps at a rate of 25%. The long-term capital gain rates are 0%, 15% and 20%. If your income is between $44,625 and $492,000 it's 15%. And ifyour income is greater than $492,300It's 10%.
