Before Nixon, there were two men who fought tooth and nail for drug prohibition. Harry Anselinger claimed during World War II that Japanese forces had somehow snuck cannabis into America's food and water supply. He went so far as to create his own conspiracy theory about cannabis. The propaganda that would incite one of the longest, costliest, most complicated conflicts in American history.
