Kyrie Irving Trade Request - Why Did It Come About?

Kyrie Irving wanted a long-term contract extension before the season was over, not this summer, but ahead of this trade deadline. The Nets have not been willing to make the kind of commitment in years and money that Kyrie Irving has wanted. I'm told it did not come with any preferred teams. Certainly, the Lakers are going to have interest in talking to the Nets, I'm told.
