The Byzantine Empire
Byzantine empire reached its peak in the eleventh and twelfth centuries. Then it has a very slow decline, sattacked, and taken over by the west. The big events in that history are the crusades from the eleventh the fourteenth century. And then the expansion of the ottoman turks, the enormous ottoman empire. In 14 53, conquered constantinople and actually re established the old greek speaking capital once again as the capital of a world empire. Its official language was ottomanTurkish.
