The World Octopus Championships
In 1957, 111 divers took place in the water's off Tiltlow Beach. The July 1963 edition of Skin Diving Magazine called it a whale of a success. That day about 20 octopuses were caught in the championship. And the good news is most of them were released back into the ocean.
