The Shenu
Two merchants are said to have encountered a strange creature among the himalayan slopes. They were presented with turquoise stones, which they sold for more than all their lost merchandise put together. It seems clear though, that these creatures are of a corporeal nature, rather than supernatural. In our final tale to day, we are introduced to the concept of the shenu. When typically translated, the term is rendered as fairy, which is fairy enough. But at least in this particular tale, the shen appears to be less one of the fair folk and much more akin to visitors from a significantly more distant place.
