Clarinet - A History

The clarinet was invented in the late seventeenth century by a German father and son duo. The chaloumant had two finger keys, which increased its musical range by more than two octaves. A barrel connecting the mouthpiece to the upper joint of the instrument greatly improved intonation. While the original only had eight holes and two keys a modern clarionet features around 20 keys as well as air tight pads and rings. As for the name 'clarino', it comes from an Italian word meaning little trumpet.
