Zhang Joo-jong was the first senior grand secretary of the imperial Ming court. His decade in power is now often referred to as a sort of neo-legalism. By the end of the decade, for instance, the capital granaries reportedly held enough reserve grain to meet the needs of the subsequent nine years. The treasury of the Tai-tsang-suh reported more than 6 million tales of silver over this period.
