The Jarring Effects of War on the Culture

In Joshua, the Israelites go to war against a people who have pagan rituals that are just like an entire think about an entire society. And God has them just wipe that out because he doesn't think they could go there and spread democracy or something. The wages of sin is in fact death for any person who does not live up to his word: "If you're a sinner, death is coming for you" So what's happening here is we have example after example of exactly where sin leads, right, it leads to death.
