South Carolina Governor: Nikki Haley
Haley grew up in South Carolina, the child of Indian immigrants who are actually Sikhs. She followed the Sikh religion until well into adulthood when she converted to Methodism. Haley was elected the state legislature from a Columbia suburb and very quickly identified herself with the hard core right wing portion of the South Carolina party.
