What's the Black Presence in Britain After the Slave Trade?
There are examples of people from Africa serving on Hadrian's wall. There were black tutors in Tudor England, which predates when England was really involved in the transatlantic slave trade. You start to get much larger numbers of black people coming over to Britain as a result of it. In the Georgian period, you have quite a significant, we think, black community,. probably over 10,000 people living black people living in London in the sort of Georgian era and that is much larger than we've seen in the Tudor era or before.
