The Battle of Alteneto
Russia has some great advantages. It's playing at home, on Russian ground. They don't initially have a numerical advantage in the Crimea but they will build up something of an advantage in manpower. The Russians compromise with their technical weaknesses by using large numbers of men. Figures are of around 800,000 military casualties have been widely touted. By the end of the war, the British and French are turning up with armour-plated warships to bombard Russian fortresses. Again, brand new technology.
