The conspiracy theories fit the political agendas of people outside the trial. The right didn't want to acknowledge that McVay was a right-wing extremist, they wanted to dissociate him from that. There's been a parallel effort on the left where McVay circulated at gun shows on the eve of the bombing. Both the left and right are wrong about this,. There was no broader conspiracy, either on the left or on the right.
