The History of Hannibal
In the late spring of two 18 b c, hannibal and his army set off from southern spain to guard spain. The balance of power has changed significantly after the first punic war. Carthage has lost the ports give it the reach to get to italy. It's much more sensible for hannibal to march from spain to italy - even though the journey will be difficult.
