There's so little trust now between all parties in this that it is impossible to discern the truth. Xi and China opposed the use of nuclear weapons, they were very clear. They are still very much aligned. There's just a line in the sand. The Chinese clearly are lining very closely with the Russians on some fundamental aspects of all this. As we in the West help Ukraine, it provides the rationale for Putin to escalate to nuclear. So what they're basically saying is, if you don't back away, you'll be directly involved. And the cost to you will rise."
