The book nell's quilt by susan terris is a text that i reference in the novel on the ghost of briarwood. It's about this tomboy, nell, who grows up on a farm and her father promises her to his widowed neighbour in marriage. But she rejects that future and protests by restricting her food. She stops eating in its sort of like a way for her to reject this un planned future anyway. I read it but i was like, i don't like this character.
