The Borrow Checker
Rust does a lot of checks at compile time to make sure things are safe. The borrow checker basically enforces two rules: Don't use the memory after it's free, and don't write to the same thing twice. Rust tries to prevent that all at compile time, which means that runtime you can just worry about performance. "It's possible and unfortunately very easy for you to ignore the rules," he says.
