A History of Blindness
Census reveals huge numbers of men that were coming home with debilitating, mental and physical problems. A man blinded in july 19 16 went to saint dunstan's which was all about teaching men how to be blind. And you do find this ai, this particular individual whose medal i bought, appears on the census as unemployed, not working, no trade, blind in brackets. I haven't yet pulled his death certificate, but i wouldn't be surprised if it was related to his war injury. Other men who obviously, before the war, were not soldiers, they were civilians. They were doing labouring jobs, or working as gardeners or whatever. So you can see the anger
