The Struggle Continues
Police budgets are a good example of structural violence and how that's enacted through political economy. In some cities, they've had more success than others in moving those budgets forward. Seattle defunded the police department two or three years in a row and was able to move that money to participatory budgeting to community based safety services. New York City currently has a budget justice campaign where there's some very detailed proposals that have come from communities unite for police reform.
