As elections become much more manipulated in russia, which i fully expect, they also become a much less useful tool for autocrats. And it's only when we see an autocratic step, as we saw in bieleruse, for example, where the autocrat implausibly claimed that he had gained 82 % of the vote in 20 20, that really brought people on to the street. Because the leadership in minsk had so misread public opinion, this ind of protest became much more difficult for the beolle russian president to foresee and predict before it took place.
