Ruse states were already squabbling, fighting amongst themselves and everything else. So did the mongols help o contribute to the formation of more consistency across this whole state? The northern rus rulers did not free themselves of mongol dominion until the 14 eighties. But overall, for some centuries, ukraine has a consistent dialogue with western european culture. It is under peter that all these reformative measures are transposed to the great Russian empire.
