How Sri Lanka's Past Influences Your Art?

Everything I do has something to do with the past of Sri Lanka and the idea of the past. It's not just Sri Lanka's past, it's a particularly bloody past that you choose to focus on. The 1983 Black July riots in the southern parts of Sri Lanka escalated the war. And I realized that we justified those attacks, those violence, by way of a particular past...I'm totally influenced by that.
