Avionics bay of any current airplane is round full of big, heavy, expensive boxes. Each one's got a really heavy expensive box and they're called line replaceable units. It means that if something goes wrong, the engineer on the ground can come along with new one to fix it. But for all intents and purposes, you just don't want to hack an airplane from the passenger cabin. If you're going to do something to affect an airplane, you need to be in a position of physical trust.
