The Body Without Organs
Kafatsus is a term used to refer to investment. It carries over something of the area in which it was first invested in into the other areas in which it's invested in. In Freud's Beyond the Pleasure Principle, he described trauma as a sort of break in this symbolic protective shield or the protective shield of language. A wound without an object is harder to deal with than a wound that has no object.
