How to Write a Novel

Ian's first novel was a short story that he submitted to a competition. But his critique group said, there's more you can do with this. So it sort of grew over a period of months until I had a full draft. And how did you fit it in? Like, did you have set writing times? Or did you just manage to squeeze it in amidst other responsibilities?
