In Michigan, the state legislature has been under control of Republicans for a long time. Gretchen Whitmer and her leadership said, we need the whole thing, and we're going to do these things. And they are going to change your lived experience right away. This has not been able to happen at the federal level because of the filibuster. The real problem is that most people participate in politics where their mind kind of focused on what's happening elsewhere.
