Introduction
Patti McCracken spoke to John Borkham about her research into the so-called Angel Makers of Nargreve. She shed light on the wider social and economic factors that may have motivated this group of women to murder. The story begins in a very poor farming community with not many people really running the show. But then what happens? They had a pandemic that was horrific, Spanish flu. And they also had a war with the Romanians who were wanting Transylvania. Czechoslovakia was born of this. So I sometimes try to imagine what it would have been like but my mind just can't wrap around it.
