The Dual Diagnosis of Intellectual Giftedness and ADHD
Some authors propose that a degree of autism could foster a special talent in gifted individuals, including individuals with ADHD. Other authors warn that intellectual giftedness may only be a protective factor for students with ADHD. Empirical studies between 2000 and 2014 about the identification, misdiagnosis and dual diagnosis of intellectual giftedness and ADHD were reviewed by Molot and Rin. From this review traits of Intellectual giftedness versus ADHD have been compiled for the purposes of clarity. These are listed in table three below.
