Kurt's Story
On March 30, 1994, Kurt Carlson went to a gun shop in Seattle and purchased a Remington 20-gauge shotgun for his friend. That night he flew to Los Angeles and checked himself in to Exodus Recovery. On April 1, 1994, just a few short days after checking himself in, Kurt stepped out for a cigarette and proceeded to climb the six-foot fence surrounding Exodus. He called Courtney, who was staying close by with Francis at the Peninsula Hotel in Los Angeles, at 8.47 p.m. on the night of his flight home. The message said: "Elizabeth"
