Anselinger's War on Drugs
In 1938, New York's Mayor LaGuardia ordered a study on the Sociological, Medical and Psychological Consequences of Ingesting Marijuana. The study concluded that there was no proof that marijuana caused violent or aggressive behavior. Anselinger criticized the AMA for publishing the study in their national journal. Shortly after the letter was sent, the American Medical Association made a quick and public about face on their marijuana stance.
