Writing in the Arts - What I Learned From the Kundiman Fellowship
I'm assuming your parents were cool with you getting to writing in the arts. You know, they never pressure me to be a doctor or a lawyer. So my path to writing was very much through and part of community. That's awesome. There is a common through line for those who are like, say, second generation of like having that arts versus practicality tension with our parents. And I think because of their particularly unusual history themselves,. My dad went to law school; so they knew they had no ground to step on in terms of like pushing me towards a traditional path.
