Cross Adoption in the Americas
There was cross adoption going on all the time. Many people acted as diplomats because they mighta grown up in one society and then been captured and integrated into another society. However, when you went to war ther and you made you took captives, there were usually some people that you couldn't adopt in and integrate. So what would you do with these people? Enerally, you would killing them, and you would kill them in a very brutal way. And we can see examples of this from europeans,. after europeans came into the americas and witnessed this happening, they would often be horrified by the tortures that native American warriors would inflict on their prisoners of war.
