The History of the Freedom Rides

The Freedom Rides were led by another group of student activists, the Congress of Racial Equality. This was intended to take direct action across state lines, six of them in all. The rides were designed to try to claim rights to travel interstate on buses without traveling segregated that had already been approved by courts.
