The History of Taoism

Next week we'll look at the daist gods and a little about the role many of these gods play in chinese culture to day. In four forty a d during the southern and northern dynasties period, daism actually becomes a state religion for the first time. We'll see how it developed in the period after the han dynasty. We'll trace its developments to a later dynasty. Sand will see, as buddhism slowly spreads in china, how taoism and buddhism came into frequent conflict with each other.
