The Importance of Elite Overproduction in Colleges

I tend to take the view that the fights are really deep down their fights of different elite groups for power. So one of the reasons why things may be so severe, why the divorced couple sitting in the house kind of glaring at each other, goes back to the idea of maybe elite overproduction or just too many people think that they belong in the elites. I'm not sure if this is worse or better if colleges are more meritocratic.
