What Is the Immediate Aftermath of Bloody Sunday?
bloody sunday represents a high point of a cross border emotion about the troubles. People walk off their jobs the day afterwards, there are all sorts of impromptu protests in dublin. The burning of the british embassy was being cheered by many who would have considered themselves to be politically moderate. There's also then a fear in the republic that the troubles might spill over the border. They don't want these emotions to run out of control. And then you have the wider question of what thebritish and irish governments do to try and bring some political reaction to this. So it's a very, very complex picture.
